Boise-area school districts close Friday amid snowfall, hazardous road conditions

Boise, West Ada, Vallivue and Kuna schools closed Friday after the Boise area got about three inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

“This storm has affected different parts of our district in varying ways — some areas received significant snowfall, while others saw less accumulation,” the Boise School District said in an email. “However, hazardous travel conditions remain a concern across much of our region.”

The Kuna and West Ada school districts also cited dangerous road conditions in their decisions to close.

In Boise, junior high athletic events were canceled, while the status of evening athletic events in Boise and West Ada remained undecided. (In Boise, these events’ status was set to be updated on the district’s website midday.)

The Nampa and Middleton school districts have four-day weeks and are usually off Fridays.

Many smaller schools in the area also canceled Friday.
