Lori Daybell, mother of missing children, to make initial Idaho court appearance Friday

Lori Vallow Daybell, whose children have been missing since September, will make her first court appearance in Idaho on Friday.

Trial court administrator Tammie Whyte told EastIdahoNews.com that Daybell will appear for a hearing in Rexburg, before Magistrate Judge Faren Eddins at the Madison County Courthouse at 2 p.m., where she will be read her charges. EastIdahoNews.com will be streaming the hearing from start to finish.

Her next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing, which will happen at a later date. A judge will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to advance the case to 7th District Court at that hearing.

Friday’s hearing in Rexburg is open to the public.

Vallow Daybell waived extradition during a court hearing in Hawaii last Wednesday, when her bail was reconfirmed at $5 million. She will be brought back to Idaho on charges of desertion and nonsupport of children, resisting and/or obstructing an officer, solicitation, and contempt.

Lori and her husband, Chad Daybell, have been in the national spotlight since Lori’s children, Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, vanished in September. JJ was last seen at school in Rexburg on Sept. 23, about two weeks after Tylee was last seen, on a trip to Yellowstone National Park.

Chad Daybell arrived in Rexburg on Saturday. He has not been charged with any crimes.

Officials have released little information about Lori’s extradition from the island of Kauai, but EastIdahoNews.com has learned she will be on a commercial flight with multiple law enforcement officers.

FBI command center assists investigation

The FBI has sent a mobile command center to Idaho that will help law enforcement as they continue their investigation into the disappearance of Tylee and JJ. The command center arrived Monday and will be stationed in Rexburg for an indefinite period of time, officials said. It’s parked behind the Rexburg Police Department.

“We continue to assist Rexburg Police and our command center is there to provide logistical support,” FBI spokeswoman Sandra Barker told EastIdahoNews.com.

Officials have not released any new information on the search for the children.
