Underground home hits the Texas market. Take a look. ‘This house has seen things’
Bunkers have become all the rage with post-apocalyptic movies and television shows like “The Last of Us” or “28 Years Later” running wild in imaginations. And now, an underground house with a lot of potential to be a very suitable — and stylish — bunker has landed on the real estate market in Midland, Texas, for $299,900.
“Looking for something truly unique? This incredible 3,437-square-foot property sits on 0.777 acres and is mostly underground! Whether you’re dreaming of a residential retreat, commercial space, or your very own doomsday bunker, this property delivers,” the listing on Realtor.com details.
The home has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a kitchen and basement, so the potential is right there already. All it needs is a heavy remodeling and perhaps some decorative rugs and pop art lining the walls.
The home caught the attention of Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page that highlights unique house on the market all over the country. People were either impressed — or puzzled.
“Other than the windows, it’s essentially a fancy tornado shelter,” one person said.
“Needs a bit of work, but could be pretty cool,” another noticed.
“This house has seen things,” someone joked.
“This is my neck of the woods, I had to go digging. It’s off west county road in midland. The area it’s in, I’m not shocked by this,” one person commented.
Midland is about a 300-mile drive east from El Paso.
