Nighttime drivers can expect more lane closures on Interstate 84 between Nampa and Meridian nearly all of next week.

The Idaho Transportation Department announced Friday that crews will begin milling and paving the interstate between the Garrity Boulevard (Nampa) and Ten Mile Road (Meridian) interchanges Tuesday night, and I-84 lane closures are set to begin Monday.

ITD stated in a news release that lane closures could begin as early as 7 p.m. each night, but at least two lanes would remain open in each direction at all times.

Lane closures on eastbound I-84 are scheduled for 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Closures westbound will be from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

ITD states that crews will be repaving the roadway, which includes removing old lane markings and black paint that it says caused confusion for drivers in May. ITD expects the repaving project to be completed this summer.

Earlier this week, ITD also notified drivers of road work scheduled to start Sunday on the U.S. Highway 30 bridge over I-84 at the New Plymouth interchange. That project will take two weeks, according to another release, and some I-84 lanes will be closed as crews work on the bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.

Nighttime lane restrictions on I-84 will continue throughout summer as ITD continues construction of the Idaho Highway 16 and I-84 Interchange, the department says.

Drivers can find up-to-date information on closures and delays on ITD’s website 511.idaho.gov or the 511 mobile app.
