Gas line break in Boise construction zone closes Americana Boulevard
Already plagued by lane restrictions, Americana Boulevard will be fully closed for a few hours Monday night after a construction crew hit a gas line.
At around 5 p.m., the Boise Police Department announced on Facebook that Americana Boulevard between Shoreline Drive and Americana Terrace, which goes into Kathryn Albertson Park, would be closed in both directions. An hour later, drivers on either side of the gas line break still were being forced to turn around, an Idaho Statesman reporter observed.
Americana Boulevard was already down to one lane in each direction until the fall as crews upgrade the road and sidewalks, the Ada County Highway District announced in April.
“There is no danger to the public,” according to the police post about the gas line, and it added that the Greenbelt remained open in the area and under the Americana bridge.
