Boise traffic alert: Shoreline Drive at Americana now closed until fall
Boise drivers need to start planning routes around a closure on Shoreline Drive and lane restrictions on Americana Boulevard.
The Ada County Highway District announced that road work on Shoreline and Americana means that Shoreline is now closed where it crosses Americana, which is limited to one northbound and one southbound lane until the fall. Crews are making upgrades to the roads and sidewalks in the area.
ACHD says the improvement plan, which is a federally funded project, will include new buffer medians, pedestrian ramp upgrades, improved bike lanes and pedestrian crossings, and drainage enhancements. There also will be new traffic signals at Ann Morrison Park Boulevard and Shoreline Drive along Americana, and a new rectangular rapid flashing beacon at the entrance to the firefighter memorial entrance for pedestrian crossing along Shoreline.
The weekly Boise Farmers Market is located at the corner of Americana and Shoreline each Saturday morning, and will remain there. Drivers are encouraged to access the area using detour routes, including West River Street and South 13th Street.
Construction began on Thursday, April 16, and is expected to be wrapped up this fall, according to the agency’s website.
