Ada County coroner identifies victim of Wednesday’s ‘tragic accident’ in Star

A 90-year-old driving a Dodge Ram truck accidentally hit and killed his passenger while she was standing in front of the pickup helping him park, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The Ada County Coroner’s Office said in a press release Friday that the victim was 87-year-old Winona Johnson, of Boise, and that she died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The driver was looking to go in reverse into a parking spot but drove forward by mistake, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Johnson died at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

An initial investigation by Ada County sheriff’s deputies determined that it was a “tragic accident” that resulted in her death, but the full investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at ACSOTips@adacounty.id.gov or call non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790.
