18-year-old motorcycle driver killed in Meridian collision with box truck
A motorcyclist died in a Meridian accident on Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred when a 34-year-old Caldwell man driving south on North Locust Grove Road in a box truck attempted to turn left onto East Ustick Road at about 3:56 p.m., according to an Idaho State Police news release.
At the same time, an 18-year-old Meridian man was driving a Yamaha motorcycle north on Locust Grove, police said.
“The motorcycle and box truck collided in the intersection,” police said.
Law enforcement said the motorcycle driver died from his injuries at the scene. The box truck driver was not taken to a hospital.
The Meridian Police Department said its officers are working with Idaho State Police on an investigation to find “the exact cause of the crash.”
The Ada County Coroner’s Office plans to release the crash victim’s identity at a later time.
The roadway was blocked for about five hours following the accident. The Meridian Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics assisted at the scene.
