Boise driver arrested for hit-and-run, Sheriff’s Office says. Pedestrian injured
A 21-year-old driver was arrested Thursday after she allegedly hit a pedestrian crossing Hill Road in Eagle.
At around 5 p.m. a black SUV, driven by the Boise woman, struck the male pedestrian at the intersection of South Edgewood Lane and Hill Road in Eagle as he attempted to use the crosswalk, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The woman didn’t stop and continued westbound on Hill Road, the agency said in its Thursday night news release.
The man, who sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to a local hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said. The woman was found about an hour later by Boise police officers in the area of West State Street and North Whitewater Park Boulevard in Boise, according to the release.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREWhy we aren't naming all suspects
The Idaho Statesman doesn’t always name the suspect in crime stories. Our general practice, implemented in February 2022, is that we only name suspects when we are committed to following a case through the criminal justice system. That ensures that if charges are reduced or dismissed, or the person is acquitted, our reporting will reflect that. We made this decision as part of our Clean Slate project, which creates a pathway for people whose minor crimes were reported by us in the past to have those stories de-indexed so they don’t show up in Google searches. We also can always decide to name the suspect later if appropriate. Learn more about our Clean Slate project here.
Also of note, we generally don’t publish booking mugshots of arrestees. Those have been shown to have lasting effects on the people photographed and marginalized communities. Exceptions must be approved by a senior editor.
She was arrested by the Eagle Police Department, whose deputies are employed through the Sheriff’s Office, for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in an injury and booked into the Ada County Jail. If convicted of the felony, she could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, according to state law.
