Update: GoFundMe created to help family of motorcyclist who died in Meridian crash
The Ada County Coroner’s Office has identified the young man who died in a motorcycle-pickup truck crash Friday morning near Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian.
Landon Dela Rosa, of Meridian, was riding his Kawasaki sport-bike-style motorcycle north on Linder Road around 10:30 a.m. Friday when he collided with the driver of a Jeep Gladiator, according to the Meridian Police Department and Ada County Coroner’s Office.
The pickup driver had entered the roadway by the intersection of North Linder Road and West Cayuse Creek Drive, which is just down the street from Rocky Mountain.
Dela Rosa was “seriously injured,” police said.
He was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he died after lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, according to a news release from the coroner. He was 20.
A GoFundMe hoping to raise $10,000 to help Dela Rosa’s parents with funeral expenses said the loss of an “incredible young man” has been devastating. His parents raised him with “love, kindness, and strong values,” according to the fundraiser.
“At just 20 years old, Landon had so much life ahead of him, and his passing has left an ache that words cannot fully express,” the fundraiser created by family friends said. “He was deeply loved, fiercely missed, and will always be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of those who knew him.”
No students from the high school were directly involved in the crash, according to police.
The Meridian Police Department is investigating the crash.
