Ada coroner releases name of man who died in 3-vehicle crash on Idaho 55

Officials have released the name of the man who died in a three-vehicle crash north of Cascade.

A man driving a pickup truck south on Idaho Highway 55 crossed the center line and struck two vehicles at 6:54 a.m. June 16 at mile marker 119, north of Smalley Road in Valley County, the Idaho State Police said in a news release.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the pickup driver as Cristian Mendivil, 30, of McCall. Police initially reported that Mendivil was critically injured in the accident and flown to a hospital. He died in Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center’s intensive care unit in Boise at 11:41 p.m. June 17, the coroner’s office said in a release.

The coroner listed Mendivil’s cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries and the manner as accidental.

The drivers of the other vehicles, a 25-year-old Kuna man and a 35-year-old Emmett man, did not need treatment at hospitals, according to law enforcement.

The highway was blocked for about three hours as responders helped those involved and cleared the scene.
