UPDATE: Woman dies in West Boise crash that closed Chinden Boulevard for hours
A woman died in a two-vehicle collision in West Boise on Thursday afternoon, Boise police said.
Police responded to a collision involving a truck and a sedan at the intersection of Chinden Boulevard and Five Mile Road at around 3:25 p.m., according to a news release from the department Thursday evening. An adult female passenger in the sedan died at the scene, while the adult male driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Two occupants of the truck were not injured.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the truck was traveling eastbound on Chinden, while the sedan was traveling westbound and attempting to turn left onto Five Mile when the crash occurred. An investigation by the Boise Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and Crash Reconstruction Team remains ongoing, according to the release.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after notifying family.
Chinden Boulevard was closed in both directions, with access from Five Mile also blocked off, for over four hours Thursday. The highway was reopened as of 8:15 p.m., Boise police spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman in a text message. Williams did not respond to follow-up questions from the Statesman.
