UPDATE: Connector re-opened in both directions through Boise in wake of snowstorm

Update: As of 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Boise police reported that the I-184 Connector had reopened in both directions through Boise.

The outbound Connector had closed first, then the inbound lanes followed at 1:27 p.m., according to BPD. The route was reopened at 4:15 p.m.

“Thank you ACHD plow drivers,” BPD said in a Facebook post.

Ada County reported 39 collisions and three slide-offs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

But the storm isn’t over — here’s what’s coming.

Original story:

Officials closed a four-mile stretch of Interstate 84 between Boise and Nampa on Thursday following a vehicle accident, plus lanes of the Connector out of downtown Boise.

The Idaho Transportation Department reported Idaho State Police closed the westbound lanes of I-84 between South Ten Mile Road and North Idaho Center Boulevard.

The department reported that numerous crashes also closed westbound lanes of the I-184 Connector at 12:46 p.m. from the start of the Connector in downtown to North Curtis Road.

The department reported that police also closed the two right westbound lanes of the Connector from South Curtis Road to South Cole Road at 12:34 p.m. following multiple crashes in the area. Driving speeds were reduced as emergency personnel worked at the scene, according to the department.

“The inbound connector is also very icy,” the Boise Police Department warned on social media. “Drivers across town are urged to be aware of icy, slushy conditions.”

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to 39 collisions — three of which included injuries — and three slide-offs between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday.

Aaron Snell, the communications director of the Idaho State Police, confirmed to the Statesman in an email that the Connector is the only road still closed as of 3 p.m. Thursday. It is closed both east and westbound, Snell said.
