Middleton juvenile is latest Idaho traffic death victim after collision near Caldwell
A Middleton juvenile was killed in a crash east of Caldwell on Wednesday morning, according to Idaho State Police.
The fatal crash added to what has been a spike in traffic deaths this year, according to previous Idaho Statesman reporting.
At around 8 a.m., the juvenile was driving south on Midland Boulevard in a Subaru and was hit by a concrete truck that was heading west on U.S. Highway 20, the state police news release said.
“The Subaru failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck,” the release said. “The driver of the Subaru succumbed to their injuries at the scene.”
The concrete truck driver, a 59-year-old Caldwell man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, ISP said.
The release did not provide information on whether the drivers were wearing seat belts.
The Canyon County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased, according to police.
The road was blocked in both directions for two hours, police said. The crash is under investigation.
