Idaho State Police investigating crash on U.S. 95 near Fruitland that left one dead

A crash near Fruitland on Monday morning left one man dead and another injured, Idaho State Police said in a news release.

Just after 10 a.m., a 55-year-old Caldwell man was northbound on U.S. 95 in Payette County in a 2006 Dodge Durango when the SUV veered left and collided with a 2022 Ford Maverick driven by a 53-year-old man, ISP said.

Both men were transported to the hospital by ambulance, the driver of the Durango by air and the driver of the Maverick by vehicle, police said. The truck’s driver died from his injuries.

The highway was blocked off for roughly two hours as first responders assisted the drivers and cleared the scene, police said.
