Ada County coroner identifies Boise motorcyclist who died after colliding with tree

Officials released the name of the motorcycle driver who died south of Boise’s university neighborhood earlier this month.

Police said a man died May 10 after losing control of his motorcycle, which caused him to ride onto the sidewalk and crash into a large tree near the corner of West Beacon Street and West Boise Avenue, not far from Boise State’s campus. The collision ejected him from his motorcycle and onto the roadway shortly after 7 p.m. , according to the Boise Police Department.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim Monday as Sandeep Dhakal, 26, of Boise.

Dhakal was pronounced dead at about 8:46 p.m. in Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center’s emergency room, the coroner’s office said in a news release.

The coroner listed Dhakal’s cause of death as blunt force trauma and the manner of death as accidental.

Officials said Boise police are still investigating the accident.
