Drivers should expect big construction delays near the intersection of Chinden Boulevard and Eagle Road this weekend.

The Idaho Transportation Department is replacing the asphalt on the west side of the intersection, part of a project to repave Eagle Road — the busiest non-interstate highway in the state — from Interstate 84 to Idaho Highway 44.

Work at the intersection will begin each night at 10 and is expected to pause Saturday at 7 a.m. and Sunday at 8 a.m., before concluding Monday morning, according to a news release from ITD. Side streets in the area on Eagle Road will be closed during work hours, and detours will be set up. The department advised drivers to take alternate routes to skirt the delays.

Crews also plan to repave intersections at McMillan Road, Ustick Road and Fairview Avenue, meaning more closures along Eagle are on the horizon. The project is expected to be completed in the fall, according to ITD officials.

A sign-up form for updates on the construction is available on the department’s website.
