Two people died in a car crash Friday afternoon on Idaho 55 in Valley County just south of McCall, according to Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police responded to a multivehicle accident near Lake Fork at about 1 p.m., according to a news release.

A 47-year-old male from Boise was driving southbound in a Ford pickup truck when he crossed left of center and struck a Ford Explorer. The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 70-year-old Cascade woman, then crossed into the southbound lane and was struck by a Subaru Crosstrek driven by a 28-year-old Twin Falls woman, police said.

The 28-year-old died at the scene, according to ISP, and was not wearing a seat belt. The 70-year-old died at a local hospital, and police declined to say whether the man driving the pickup suffered any injuries. Both he and the 70-year-old woman were wearing seat belts, police said.

The road was blocked for about three hours and was reduced to one lane for another 45 minutes, and police are still investigating. They have not publicly identified the victims.

Idaho State Police are seeking information from any potential witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Idaho State Police Dispatch at (208) 846-7500.
