Part of I-84 in Caldwell and Nampa to close for two nights to repair potholes, pavement
A portion of Interstate 84 will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday evening to repair potholes and rough pavement in Canyon County, according to a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.
Both the westbound and eastbound lanes will be closed from 10th Avenue, or Exit 28, in Caldwell to Karcher Road, or Exit 33, in Nampa. Drivers will be able to take a detour via Caldwell Boulevard on both nights.
The westbound part of I-84 will close be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, and the eastbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.
“The harsh winter weather we’ve had lately is causing the older pavement to deteriorate,” Andrew Linder, ITD project manager, said in the release. “We are acting quickly to keep driving conditions smooth and safe over the winter.”
The department added new travel lanes are underway in Canyon County, as ITD is building lanes in the median of I-84. During that time, traffic will be moved to the median in the spring and summer of 2022. Spokesperson Jillian Garrigues stated in the release that all work will be completed in 2023.
