State Police: Head-on Thursday collision near Caldwell kills Nampa man

A Nampa man driving a pickup truck was killed Thursday in a head-on collision with a semi-trailer near Caldwell, according to the Idaho State Police.

At around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, a 32-year-old from Nampa was driving westbound on Karcher Rd. A 30-year-old Colorado man was driving a semi-trailer eastbound on Karcher, according to a news release.

A preliminary police investigation found the pickup truck crossed the road’s center line near S. Indiana Ave., south of Caldwell, and collided with the semi-trailer.

The Nampa man, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The driver of the semi-trailer was wearing a seat belt and was not hospitalized.

The road was blocked for around six hours, the release said. The crash remains under investigation.
