2 people killed, power lines downed in early morning car crash in Southeast Boise

Police are investigating a fatal crash in Boise that took place early Tuesday morning, killing two people and taking down power lines.

At around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to an area near the intersection of S. Surprise Way and E. Amity Road, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.

Officers found a car that was overturned just off E. Amity Road with two people inside. Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

As of Tuesday, police believe that the crash took out power lines in the area when it occurred at roughly 12:45 a.m. Crews from Idaho Power responded to repair the lines.

The cause of the crash and the direction of the car’s travel are still under investigation, which is being handled by BPD’s violent crimes unit.

Neither of the deceased individuals were identified by police as of Tuesday afternoon. The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release their identities once the families have been notified.
