Tee up for a new fundraiser for the Meridian Canine Rescue at the Lakeview Golf Club
COVID-19 has been the culprit in the cancellation of in-person events for months. It’s been rough, to say the least.
And for those who couldn’t modify to a virtual option, it’s been especially difficult.
Some calendars were completely wiped out. Due to the pandemic, the Meridian Canine Rescue had to cancel all events for the year, like the adorable yoga with puppies classes. And I know we could have all used some relaxing stretching mixed with smooches from pooches during these times.
Outdoor events seem to fare better right now, allowing for more social distancing.
So Cassie Jordan, a volunteer at Meridian Canine Rescue and active member of the fundraising committee, decided to organize a Meridian Canine Rescue Charity Tournament with the help of her husband, Brett.
Both enjoy golf and have helped plan a tournament in the past for Wounded Warriors, so they decided to put their “passion and experience to good use for MCR.”
The inaugural tournament is set for Sept. 25 at Lakeview Golf Club, 400 W. Talamore Blvd., Meridian, with registration at 8 a.m. and shotgun start at 9 a.m. (Should Idaho remain in Stage 4, the event will go to tee times rather than a shotgun start.)
It will be a men and women scramble format (no handicap needed), with prizes for hole in one, longest drive, and closest to the pin.
The cost is $120 per player and $400 per foursome, which includes lunch and carts.
Funds raised will benefit Meridian Canine Rescue, “a nonprofit, no-kill canine rescue dedicated to giving homeless and owner surrendered dogs a second chance.”
