Boise police make arrest in Greenbelt killing; 41-year-old faces murder charge
The Boise Police Department arrested a man Thursday in a killing that occurred along the Greenbelt earlier this week.
Ross Wardlaw, 41, was taken into police custody at 3:30 p.m. and booked into the Ada County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder in the killing of 25-year-old Jordan Harbst, according to a news release from Boise police Thursday evening.
Harbst was found dead at around 7:30 Monday morning on the north side of the popular path near 11th Street, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
Police, who earlier would not release the cause of death, said Wardlaw stabbed Harbst multiple times while the victim was traveling along the Greenbelt. The two men did not know each other, according to the release, and police don’t think there was any altercation before the attack.
“Our hearts are with the family and friends of Jordan Harbst. Boise Police detectives, officers, and professional staff have been working around the clock to find answers and locate the person responsible for Jordan’s tragic death,” Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison said in the release.
“A crime of this nature is rare for the City of Boise, and we recognize the fear that a violent incident like this brings to our community. As a department we are committed to not only ensuring your safety but also your peace of mind.”
The investigation is ongoing, the release said, and detectives ask anyone who may have had contact with Wardlaw leading up to the incident to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
