A Nampa man made videos sexually abusing a child. Here’s his prison sentence
A 26-year-old Nampa man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho.
Chief U.S. District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford also ordered Steven Isaac Vasquez to serve a lifetime term of supervised release following his prison sentence, and he must register as a sex offender.
An investigation into Vasquez began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shared a cybertip that Vasquez had uploaded videos of child sex abuse material to a social media platform, according to authorities.
The Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force found that Vasquez uploaded videos from his cellphone to the social media account that showed him sexually abusing a 7-year-old child, according to the release. ICAC obtained a search warrant for Vasquez’s online account and located the videos.
“Protecting Idaho’s children is a top priority for my office, and we are grateful to work with so many dedicated partners who share the same goal,” U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis wrote in the news release. “Together, we ensure that sexual offenders are held accountable for their egregious actions and that victims get the justice they deserve.”
The Nampa Police Department, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Middleton Police Department, FBI and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation, the release said.
“This 30-year sentence gets one more predator off Idaho’s streets,” Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador said.
