A 52-year-old Meridian man was arrested on a felony warrant Tuesday after barricading himself in his home, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

The man was removed from his home on West Ashby Drive when members of the U.S. Marshal Service’s Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force breached an exterior door and sent in a police K-9 after numerous attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful, officials said.

The Meridian resident was considered a fugitive after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Eagle just after midnight on May 7, after being clocked at speeds of faster than 80 mph on Chinden Road, the release said. He reached speeds of more than 100 mph in a Nissan 350Z, which was found crashed and abandoned in Nampa, according to the release.

A felony arrest warrant was issued on May 15, and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office requested the U.S. Marshals task force get involved on May 18. The marshals received a tip Tuesday that the man had been spotted at his residence in Meridian, the release said.

In addition to a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer in a motor vehicle, the man also faces a misdemeanor battery charge, according to online Ada County Jail records.
