Update: Meridian police arrest suspect in Garden City kidnapping case
Update: The Meridian Police Department arrested Daniel Aitchison at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Garden City police release. He will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ada County Courthouse.
The Garden City Police Department is asking for help locating a kidnapping suspect.
Police found the victim after responding to the 5100 block of North Sawyer Avenue at 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release. Officers learned that the suspect, identified as Daniel Aitchison, fled the scene in a vehicle, and he still has not been located.
Aitchison is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound man with brown/gray hair and green eyes, police said. He allegedly took the victim, who was known to him, from a business parking lot at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, forcing them into a vehicle while brandishing a weapon. He forced them to drive around for several hours before stopping near the original kidnapping scene, where the victim escaped into a business, according to the release.
Staff there called police as Aitchison fled.
Aitchison has a nationwide no-bond warrant in his name for alleged second-degree kidnapping, first-degree stalking, felon in possession of a firearm and use of a firearm in commission of a crime, police said. He is believed to be driving a 2021 Toyota Sienna with an Idaho license plate.
Police said Aitchison should not be approached and anyone who can help should call 911. He could be in the areas of Garden Valley or Caldwell, or possibly traveling to Eugene, Oregon, the release said.
