Ada County sheriff’s deputies discovered two bodies in a Boise home on June 23, and they suspected after an initial investigation that a son killed his mother before he died by suicide, according to a news release from the agency.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a request for a welfare check at about 4 p.m. that day on Brian Way in Southeast Boise, near Warm Springs Avenue and Idaho Highway 21. Deputies found a deceased man and woman at the home, both victims of gunshot wounds, according to the Sheriff’s Office news release.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office on July 15 identified the woman who was killed as 80-year-old Kathleen Hamilton. A coroner’s report said she died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, and listed the manner of death as homicide.
