A 79-year-old woman had her purse stolen from her shopping cart at a department store on Sunday afternoon, according to the Nampa Police Department, and officers are still trying to identify the suspects.

Police said they reviewed the security footage at the store where the theft took place, and at a nearby department store, and found the same two suspects, one of whom was holding the stolen purse. A Nampa police Facebook post also said that footage showed the individuals making purchases that matched credit card activity on one of the victim’s cards.

The woman’s daughter posted on Facebook about the incident and stated that her mother was walking around the store when a man asked her to help him pick out a shirt; at that time, the other man reached into the cart and took her purse while the victim was distracted. A Nampa police spokesperson verified that responding officers were told that chain of events.

The Nampa Police Department also confirmed that the individuals returned the woman’s car keys and purse — minus her credit cards and cash — at her car in the parking lot.

Police said anyone who recognizes the suspects should reach out to the department or contact Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS or through their website, www.343COPS.com.
