Officials release name of Boise man killed in stabbing. Death listed as a homicide
Officials released the name of the Boise man stabbed to death over the weekend.
Police responded at 3:25 p.m. Friday to a stabbing at a home in the 5000 block of North Mitchell Street in Northwest Boise, the Boise Police Department said in a news release.
Officers found a victim who died shortly after being transported to a hospital, and on Monday, the Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Gregory Schroeder, 39, of Boise.
First responders took Schroeder to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, but he died from his injuries at 4:24 p.m. Friday in the emergency department, the coroner’s report said.
The coroner listed Schroeder’s cause of death as multiple sharp force injuries and the manner as homicide.
After finding Schroeder, police said officers quickly arrested 35-year-old Scott Stevens, who lived with Schroeder.
“A preliminary investigation showed that the suspect and the victim knew each other and were living in a home with other adults,” police said. “Evidence shows that two other adults in the home attempted to intervene and were threatened by the suspect while he was holding a weapon.”
Police said the attack appeared to have been unprovoked, and the weapon was found at the scene, the Idaho Statesman previously reported.
Stevens has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony aggravated assault, court records show.
The Boise Police Department did not provide a further update.
