Coroner: 2-month-old died of head trauma. Mom held on $1 million bond on murder charge

The Ada County coroner on Monday identified a suspected murder victim as 2-month-old Dawson McKinney, shortly after his mother was arraigned on a suspected murder charge in his death.

Danielle Radue, 26, of Meridian, is charged on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection to her son’s death.

On Monday afternoon, Ada County Magistrate Judge John Hawley kept Radue’s bond set at $1 million. She remains in custody at the Ada County Jail.

According to a coroner’s news release, Dawson was transported to a hospital on May 11 and he died at the hospital on May 15 of “closed traumatic head injuries.”

Paramedics had been called to a home in the 2000 block of North Swainson Avenue in Meridian because the child was unresponsive, and the EMTs made the decision to alert police, according to Meridian authorities.

Initially Radue was charged with felony injury to child, but after the baby died, she was charged with first-degree murder. Her next court date is set for May 29.
