Sheriff deputies arrest Idaho man on charges he sexually abused 17-year-old in Caldwell

Police in Caldwell arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly sexually abused an underage girl.

Raymond Wesley Carrel, 57, was booked into the Canyon County jail and charged with three counts of sexual battery of a minor, according to a news release Friday from the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Carrel was arrested after allegations were made that he had “forced sexual contact” with a teenage girl. Detectives were told the assault took place on April 30 at Carrel’s home in Caldwell.

Police said in the news release that Carrel admitted to the crime and knew she was a minor. Carrel also allegedly sexually abused the girl last summer, and then gave her hundreds of dollars, authorities said.

Carrel remains in jail on a $500,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on May 28 for a preliminary hearing. It was not immediately clear Friday whether he had retained an attorney.
