Fourth Idaho suspect arrested in kidnapping, torture of two people last month
Police arrested a fourth suspect on Thursday in connection to the alleged kidnapping and assault of two people in Caldwell last month.
Authorities arrested Natalio “Nate” Sanchez, 32, on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, burglary, grand theft and an enhancement for being a persistent violator.
Roberto Solorio, 39, Miguel “Gordo” Molina, 29, and Kaila Wheaton, 18, were arrested on April 28 on charges related to the same crime, which occurred on April 21 in Caldwell.
The suspects are accused of holding two people against their will, beating them, attempting to suffocate them with a garbage bag, firing guns at them and using a stun gun on them. The victims allege that they were beaten and zip-tied for about four hours, and threatened with death if they reported the incident to police.
A copy of the probable cause affidavit in Sanchez’s case alleges that Sanchez was present for the beatings and participated in robbing the victims. Sanchez and the co-defendants allegedly took guns, a knife collection, money, electronics and a 1922 pickup truck from the victims, according to the affidavit.
At one point during the kidnapping, Sanchez is accused of shoving an ink pen into a victim’s ear, causing it to rupture and bleed. He also had a syringe the victims believed was loaded with drugs, and Sanchez allegedly threatened to “overdose” them and leave them in a field, according to the affidavit.
Sanchez’s bond is set at $200,000 and he remains in custody at the Canyon County jail. His next court date is set for Wednesday, the same date is all of his co-defendants, who are also still in custody, except for Molina.
Solorio’s bond is set at $500,000 and Wheaton’s bond is set at $25,000.
Molina’s bond was $250,000, which he posted on May 6 to be released from custody, according to online court records.
