Police put name to Boise debit card theft suspect, who then turns herself in
The woman seen in security camera photos released Dec. 1 is allegedly Alexis Edwards, 22, of Boise, authorities said Wednesday.
Boise police have been investigating a case where an Idaho Humane Society employee had debit cards stolen twice from her purse while it sat in a back room for employee personal items.
Crime Stoppers of Southwest Idaho released one photo of the suspect Nov. 17 after the first theft. After that, police said, the IHS employee had another debit card stolen from the same place.
So early this month, police released security camera photos of a woman seen entering the IHS back room Oct. 28, at the time of the first theft. Some of the photos are clearly from a retail outlet, and police say the card was used multiple times at several stores.
According to BPD, detectives later found evidence leading them to Edwards. She turned herself in on Tuesday.
Edwards was still listed as in the Ada County Jail on Wednesday afternoon on $5,000 bond. She is charged with two counts of grand theft, each a felony. Court records show she was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and has her next court hearing scheduled for Dec. 28.
