Coroner names Idaho woman killed in crash. Family remembers her as ‘a beautiful light’
A 21-year-old Middleton woman who died last Thursday in a two-vehicle crash “didn’t know a stranger,” according to her family, and wanted to be a children’s pastor.
On Tuesday, the Canyon County coroner told the Idaho Statesman via email that the woman had been identified as Johnnessa “Johnnie” Holloway.
Holloway was driving a Honda Civic north on Midland Boulevard north of Nampa when she collided with a Ford F750 hauling a trailer, according to a news release from Idaho State Police last week. Holloway died at the scene, which was the intersection of Midland and U.S. 20/26.
“(Holloway) had a radiant smile, and her love for Jesus and others touched everyone she met,” according to a GoFundMe page her family has set up.
Holloway was taking classes to become a children’s pastor and spent every summer as a camp counselor for Genesis Camp at Trinity Pines in Cascade, the page stated.
In addition, Holloway coached volleyball and basketball at Centennial Baptist School in Caldwell. According to the page, “many kids looked up to her and considered her to be their mentor.”
“She didn’t know a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. Her smile brightened every room she entered, and she left,” according to the family’s page.
“She was a beautiful light in the lives of many. This loss has devastated her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.”
U.S. 20/26 was blocked for more than two hours after the crash, police said. The man driving the Ford did not appear to sustain serious injuries and was not transported to a hospital, Idaho State Police spokesperson Lynn Hightower told the Idaho Statesman via email.
As of Friday, the incident was still under investigation. Hightower did not immediately respond Tuesday with additional information. The Canyon County coroner’s office said its report was still being finalized Tuesday.
