UPDATE: Vail was located just after 7 p.m. Saturday near the Highway 45/Bowmont area. She is currently being transported to a Nampa hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an elderly woman with dementia who was reported missing at approximately 10:02 a.m. Saturday.

A health care worker was unable to locate 78-year-old Marla Rae Vail during a routine visit to her residence on the 24000 block of Farmway Road northwest of Middleton.

Vail is approximately 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Detectives believe she is driving a truck register to her son, Marlin. It is a midnight blue 2005 Chevy Silverado crew cab with license plate number 2CUA004.

A neighbor reported hearing the truck start and leave the residence at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday when Marlin wasn’t home. Detectives also believe Vail took her Australian Shepherd dog, Harley, with her when she left.

Anyone with information on Vail’s whereabouts, or the whereabouts of the truck, is asked to contact the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office at 208-454-7531.
