Sheriff still investigating crash that caused Kuna teen’s death

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is waiting for the results of a toxicology test to move forward in their investigation of a fatal crash that happened March 31, according to ACSO spokesman Patrick Orr.

Autumn Barnes, 14, of Kuna died at the scene after the Ford Explorer she was in rolled near South Black Cat Road and Ridgeback Lane.

The Explorer’s 24-year-old driver was heading north on Black Cat when she lost control around 6:30 a.m. and rolled. Barnes, who had not been wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Meridian Fire Department was called in to extricate the driver. The driver and another occupant, a 46-year-old man, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Orr said investigators would submit their report once the toxicology test came back. Toxicology tests are standard practice in fatal crash cases, he said.
