Coroner IDs teen killed in rollover near Meridian; 2 injured
Autumn Barnes, 14, of Kuna died at the scene of a Thursday morning rollover at South Black Cat Road and Ridgeback Lane, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
Barnes was ejected from the Ford Explorer. She was not wearing a seat belt, said the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the crash.
The SUV’s 24-year-old female driver and a 46-year-old male passenger were taken to a local hospital for what the sheriff’s office said appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash site is just south of Black Cat’s intersection with West Amity Road.
The SUV was headed north on Black Cat when the driver lost control about 6:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office reports. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that the SUV rolled after the driver tried to steer it back onto the road.
Meridian Fire Department responded to help extricate the driver. The coroner was called in soon after.
Deputies still trying to determine what led driver to lose control and crash.
