A float along the Boise River turned into an emergency Friday afternoon.

The Boise Fire Department responded to a call around 5 p.m. for a water rescue near Marianne Williams Park, according to Boise Fire spokesperson Lauren Melink.

One person floating the river with a group went under the water and did not resurface, BFD said. Bystanders were able to locate the person and begin CPR.

Boise Fire’s dive team, along with Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 15, Truck 7, Technical Rescue 7 and Battalion 1 responded to the emergency.

“Crews used the dive boat and a UTV to access the patient, who was then carried through heavy brush to a nearby walking path where Boise Fire personnel and Ada County Paramedics began advanced medical care,” Melink said.

The person was taken to the hospital, but their status was unknown as of Saturday afternoon.
