Boise mall is now charging for parking. Here’s why — and what you’ll pay
Planning a trip to Boise Towne Square? You may have to pay for your parking spot.
The shopping mall at 350 North Milwaukee St. in Boise is now charging for parking in select spots, as first reported by 107.9 Lite FM.
The new preferred parking program went into effect Jan. 29, according to Claudia Ilagan, a public relations manager for the shopping center’s landlord, GGP.
It’s offered as “a convenience for guests” who want “that convenience of being able to run in quickly,” Ilagan said.
Here’s what you should know:
Where do I need to pay to park at Boise mall?
You now have to pay to park at 50 of Boise Towne Square’s 5,000-plus parking spots, Ilagan said.
“These spots are currently located near the main entrance and marked with signage and a QR code,” Ilagan told the Idaho Statesman over the phone. “This does not affect handicap parking or the parking that we have designated for expectant mothers.”
Parking meters are located along the first row of spots near the Boise mall’s main entrance.
How much does parking cost at Boise Towne Square?
It costs $2.45 to park in one of the Boise mall’s preferred parking spaces for an hour, with hourly rates dropping to $2 after that.
You can hold your spot for a maximum of four hours, Ilagan said.
The mall charges to park in those spaces seven days a week.
According to Ilagan, 10% of proceeds from the new parking meters will be donated to the Idaho Foodbank.
Can I still park at the shopping center for free?
Yes, Boise Towne Square has thousands of free parking spaces for shoppers.
Metered parking is limited to the 50 spots at the main entrance to the mall.
