The Boise Police Department and Ada County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of a man who was floating the Boise River on Monday afternoon.

The man was floating with friends when his tube got caught on a tree and he went under the water, according to a police news release Tuesday. Officers responded to reports of a drowning near 9th and River streets just after 5:30 p.m. Monday, and found people performing CPR on the man.

Boise Fire Department officials and Ada County Paramedics arrived and took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
