Recorded: Bryan Kohberger’s first Boise court appearance livestreamed
Bryan Kohbeger, the 29-year man charged with murder in the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students, will appear in a Boise courtroom for the first time on Thursday, Sept. 26.
The status conference hearing is set to take place at 2 p.m. at the Ada County Courthouse. Members of the public started lining up hours ahead of time, and seats, which are on a first-come, first-served basis, will fill up fast.

Kohberger’s murder trial was scheduled to start in June 2025, a date set by the prior judge in Latah County. But the venue change to Boise and switch in judges led to the trial date and location, and each of the proceedings leading up to it, being vacated — and possibly delayed.
Fourth District Judge Steven Hippler is expected to set a new court schedule at the hearing..
Kohberger, a former Washington State University graduate student, faces four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the students, who were killed in an off-campus home in November 2022. The victims were Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle, both 20, and Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, both 21.
