Ada County coroner identifies 16-year-old skateboarder who was hit by truck in Boise
The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the 16-year-old teenager who died after being struck by a truck.
At around 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jadin Zurawski, of Boise, was skateboarding across West Washington Street in the crosswalk when the truck driver, who was going southbound along 16th Street, hit the teen, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department. Zurawski died at the scene.
Zurawski was a student at Boise High School, district spokesperson Dan Hollar told the Idaho Statesman by email. Hollar said the school made counselors available to any students or staff members on Friday and there will be another opportunity from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
“We realize that this is difficult information to process and are saddened by this loss,” Boise High Principal Deborah Watts said in an internal memo sent to parents and students, which Hollar provided to the Statesman. “As a school family and community we will support one another and work through this the best way we possibly can. Please remember this family in your thoughts.”
The coroner’s report said Zurawski died from blunt force injuries and ruled his death an accident. Boise police spokesperson Haley Kramer told the Idaho Statesman by email that any decisions regarding a criminal charge won’t be made until the investigation is completed.
Kramer said detectives have completed on-scene interviews and used student resource officers and victim witness coordinators to meet with any witnesses, but that the investigation, including a crash reconstruction, is ongoing.
Anyone with additional information who hasn’t spoken to police is asked to call the Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
