The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Boise District responded to a fire 5 miles southeast of Boise that spread to 700 acres.

Fire information spokesperson Chad Cline said the WestBonn Fire was located about 2 miles northwest of Bonneville Point, near Lucky Peak State Park. The blaze was contained by 9 p.m. Thursday.

The fire is under investigation, according to the BLM.

“Crews are mopping up hot spots and active fire spread has been stopped,” the BLM said Friday on Twitter. “Crews will remain through the night.”

The BLM initially sent three overhead trucks, four engines, a bulldozer, a water tender, a helicopter and an air attack plane to fight the fire, according to a Facebook post Thursday. The Forest Service has also sent out an engine, the post said.

In Thursday’s Facebook post, the BLM said the smoke affected road use on Blacks Creek Road, southeast of Lucky Peak. The BLM asked the public to use caution in the area.
