Boise man drowns at Lucky Peak State Park after falling off paddleboard
A 49-year-old Boise man drowned at Lucky Peak State Park on Sunday afternoon after he fell off his paddleboard, Boise County Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Johnson told the Idaho Statesman.
Merrill Davis was at the Spring Shores Marina at around 2 p.m. when he fell off his paddleboard several times and made repeated attempts to climb back on safely. Witnesses told authorities they jumped into the water to help after noticing he had not come back up following the final fall.
The Boise County Sheriff’s Office and Ada County paramedics responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on Davis, but they could not revive him. Davis was not wearing a life jacket, Johnson said.
“Everybody did what they could,” Johnson told the Statesman.
Davis’ cause of death was drowning, Johnson said.
