Car reported stolen found partially submerged in Lucky Peak Reservoir outside of Boise

A car reported stolen was found partially submerged in Lucky Peak Reservoir on Thursday morning.

Police were alerted to the vehicle at around 8 a.m., according to Patrick Orr, spokesperson for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was found in the water near milepost 18 along Idaho 21, which is over the border in Boise County.

Orr said the lower water levels in the reservoir likely exposed the car. The car had been there for some time, as it was covered with algae. Orr said police have not found a body in the vehicle. It was not immediately clear when the car was reported stolen.

Boise County officials are in the process of trying to remove the vehicle from the water, Orr said.

Law enforcement was still at the scene and investigating as of Thursday.
