Are Boise grocery, liquor stores open on July 4? What to know before the holiday

Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks shows are filling up the calendar.

Several stores, pharmacies and local businesses are adjusting their hours on Saturday, July 4, or closing in observation of Independence Day.

If you still need to grab some pool day snacks or supplies for a backyard Fourth of July party, you may want to know what’s open around Boise for your last minute needs.

Holiday hours can differ by location, so check with your local store before heading out.

Here’s a guide on holiday hours around the city for the Fourth of July weekend:

When are Boise grocery stores open on Fourth of July?

Most Treasure Valley grocery stores will keep their normal hours of operation on Saturday, July 4, but there are some exceptions.

Here’s when local supermarkets will be open, and which will close:

Are Idaho liquor stores open on Independence Day?

Idaho State Liquor Division stores will remain open on Saturday, July 4.

However, state-run liquor stores will close on Sunday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

Are local pharmacies open over the Fourth of July weekend?

Here are open hours for local pharmacies during the Fourth of July holiday, as well as which drugstores will be closed:

  • Albertsons: Store open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; pharmacy closed
  • CVS: Store open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; pharmacy open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Fred Meyer: Store open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; pharmacy closed.
  • Walmart: Store open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; pharmacy open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Walgreens: Store open hours vary, most are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; pharmacy closed

Is the Boise mall changing its hours for Independence Day?

The Boise Towne Square shopping center will close two hours early in observation of the Fourth of July holiday.

The mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 4.

“Individual store and restaurant hours may vary,” the mall’s website said. “Please contact tenants directly for their hours of operation.”

Do state employees get the day off for Independence Day?

Gov. Brad Little signed an executive order in June that grants state employees two additional days off to celebrate America 250 over the Fourth of July weekend, the Idaho Statesman reported previously.

Most state offices will be closed from Thursday, July 2, through Monday, July 6.

However, the Idaho State Police and Idaho Department of Correction will operate as usual.

The Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles and Idaho courts will close on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day, but remain open Thursday and Monday.

These essential workers will be compensated for their time on the clock while other government employees enjoy the extra long holiday.

What is closed for Independence Day?

Although most federal agencies will close Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day, the U.S. Postal Service will pause operations on Saturday, July 4.

Several banks will also close on Friday.

Major shipping companies will take the day off as well, including FedEx and UPS.
