Celebrating Pride Month in the Boise area? Check out these can’t-miss queer events
June is Pride Month nationwide and in the Treasure Valley.
Events to celebrate LGBTQ+ identity and history are scheduled all month long in the Boise area, even though the official Boise Pride Festival is scheduled for mid-September.
From yoga sessions and floats to pop-up events and performances, Pride is all around Boise this June.
Here’s what to know:
Pride Party at Boise climbing gym
Hosted in collaboration with the Idaho Sierra Club, The Commons Climbing Gym is coming out with a Pride Party on Friday, June 12.
From to 10 p.m., the climbing gym at 4795 West Emerald St. in Boise is offering $5 climbing passes, crafts and karaoke.
A yoga class will begin at 5:30 p.m., and a dance class follows at 7 p.m.
Rooftop bar hosts trivia tournament, drag events
Pride Month is booked and busy at Hap Hap Lounge on the second floor of 722 West Broad St. in downtown Boise.
The Trivia Queernament event will be held every Tuesday in June from 6 to 8 p.m. at the rooftop cocktail bar, with final grand prize winners announced on June 30.
Hap Hap Lounge is also hosting two drag events in June.
A burlesque show and drag pop-up with Dolce Vida, Vera Holiday and Jilly.FM will be held 8 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, June 18.
Tickets are required to attend a drag brunch at the lounge on Sunday, June 21.
Prices are $58.69 per person.
Queerly Arts Festival in Garden City
The four-day Queerly Art Festival features daily themed variety shows at Visual Arts Collective, 3638 Osage St. in Garden City.
“Calling all goblins & ghouls to our opening show of The Queerly Arts (Festival),” organizers said on Instagram.
It Came From The Closet, described as a “haunted variety show,” will begin at 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.
The following night, The Garden of Steven fantasy show starts at 9 p.m.
The Fruity Westerns is the title of the show on Saturday, June 27, also starting at 9 p.m.
“Giddy up, cowpoke,” festival organizers said in an Instagram post.
Doors open an hour before each event.
The It’s Brunch B*tch variety show will wrap up the festival on Sunday, June 28. Doors for brunch open at 11 a.m., but the show starts at noon.
These themed performances will feature story tellers, drag, music, dancers, aerial and burlesque.
Individual tickets cost $20, or $30 for front-row access.
A festival pass is $60, or $100 for front-row seating.
The Queerly Arts Festival will also host a free queer art market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, outside the venue.
Boise pop-up events: Gardening, yoga and trivia
Queer Events Boise is collaborating with several local groups to fill Pride Month with activities of all kinds.
VolunQueering with Treasure Valley Community Gardens Coop is inviting participants to get their hands dirty in the soil at Grow More Garden.
The volunteer event is on Wednesday, June 10, at 2206 North Cole Road in Boise from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Queer Yoga invites you to join the Queerly Collected printing and alterations group for a free yoga course.
The yoga practice is from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 13 at Ann Morrison Park, 1000 South Americana Blvd. in Boise.
Oldspeak, 3640 West Chinden Blvd. in Garden City, is hosting Sapphic Trivia with The Lit Room on Sunday, June 14.
This 21-and-older event runs 6 to 8 p.m.
Head to Bosie’s Caffeina Patio coffee shop at 4774 West State St. for the LGBTQIA+ Silent Book Club on Sunday, June 21. Quiet reading time begins at 3 p.m.
The Flicks, 646 West Fulton St. in downtown Boise, is showing “Desert Heart” at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, for Pride Film Night.
This movie screening is in collaboration with Do Something Already.
The Sapphic Boise River Float with Wet Hot Sapphic Summer is on Saturday, June 27.
This “sapphics only” event sets off at 1:30 p.m. in Barber Park, 4049 South Eckert Road in Boise.
