An ‘enchanted’ exhibit is blooming at Idaho Botanical Garden. When to visit
Fairytales have come to life at the Idaho Botanical Garden — and visitors can catch some of the magic.
“Each May, the Idaho Botanical Garden transforms into something a little more enchanted,” the garden said on its website.
The Fairy and Gnome Home Exhibit runs through the month of May at 2355 Old Penitentiary Road in Boise.
Visitors can explore this walkable wonderland when the garden is open, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Here’s what to know:
What can I find at Fairy and Gnome Home Exhibit?
As native wildflowers bloom throughout the gardens, whimsical art and tiny handmade homes created by local artists are displayed among the plants.
The Fairy and Gnome Home Exhibit offers “a peaceful, magical atmosphere perfect for kids,” the Idaho Botanical Garden said.
“Slow down and notice the small details,” garden representatives said. “A door tucked into a stump, a pebble path winding through mint, a gnome hat resting among new leaves.”
This fairy-filled garden is worth visiting multiple times, as the exhibit builds and grows every week.
“Each visit reveals something new,” the Idaho Botanical Garden said.
In a May 13 Instagram post, From Boise encouraged visitors to “stroll through the garden and see the fairy houses and gnome hideaways created by local community members.”
“It’s so fun and cute,” Instagram user meowrissssa wrote.
“Took our four-year-old grandson,” user nestingcards2020 commented. “We loved it.”
How much is admission for Idaho Botanical Garden?
Admission to the Idaho Botanical Garden costs $15, or $13 for students and people 65 and older.
Children ages 4 to 12 cost $9, while kids 3 and under are free.
Garden members get free admission.
Where can I park?
Parking at the Idaho Botanical Garden is a bit limited due to construction in the area. The parking lot is set to reopen in June.
“Please park in the Table Rock Trailhead lot behind the Warden’s House, then follow the signs to our new kiosk location behind the Administration Building,” the garden said its website.
What are the rules for visiting Idaho Botanical Garden?
Before you visit the Idaho Botanical Garden, be aware of the rules.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted, and you can’t bring in alcohol purchased from outside the venue.
Weapons and firearms are also not allowed inside the Idaho Botanical Garden.
Only leashed service animals are allowed by your side, the garden said, so you should leave pets at home.
While the garden encourages visitors to sniff and listen closely along the paths, it’s against the rules to interfere with “garden residents including lizards, snakes, squirrels, marmots, birds, owls, deer, bobcats and rabbits.”
That goes for the flowers and vegetation as well.
It’s best to follow the garden path and keep off the landscaping. There is no climbing on the “trees, art and other structures,” the garden said.
Drones are not permitted on the premises and “commercial and portrait photography” should be scheduled and booked before visiting.
