Meridian Fire Department halts house blaze after family of six escapes
An early morning fire in Meridian has displaced a family of six.
The fire was reported at 1:19 a.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Springtime Avenue, according to the Meridian Fire Department, and appears to have started in the garage.
Thanks to working smoke detectors, all six people in the home were able to escape before emergency crews arrived.
Four Meridian fire engines, two ladder trucks, a battalion chief and a safety officer were dispatched to the home, where they found the garage fire extended to the second floor and the attic. With an “aggressive fire attack,” crews were able to save the majority of the home’s interior.
The cause remains under investigation, the Meridian Fire Department said.
Support for the displaced family is being provided through the Meridian Fire Department’s Burnout Fund. A GoFundMe has also been set up to help raise funds for the family.
Meridian Police, Ada County EMS, Eagle Fire Department Battalion Chief 41, Intermountain Gas and Idaho Power also assisted in the emergency.
