Police respond to death in Boise River; Boise Fire reports busy day
Early Saturday morning, Boise Police responded to a man’s body found in the Boise River east of the Capitol Boulevard Memorial Bridge, according to a social media post from the department.
While a preliminary investigation does not show signs of foul play, according to the tweet, an investigation is ongoing.
The identity of the man has not been released pending next of kin notification, but the body is that of a white male adult who was discovered at approximately 7:35 a.m.
The Boise Fire Department also had a busy day, responding to a pair of incidents on the Boise River and one on the Greenbelt, according to a press release from the department.
At about 10 a.m. on the Greenbelt near the Martin Footbridge, a man in his 60s went into cardiac arrest. An off-duty Boise Police officer started CPR, and Boise Fire crews took over life-saving efforts when they arrived. The man, who had no pulse, eventually regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital.
Boise Fire then responded to an emergency on the Boise River just before 1:30 p.m. after a woman jumped off the Baybrook Footbridge and hurt her back when she landed. The woman’s friends were able to get her to a take-out point, and she was treated by Ada County Paramedics.
At 4:15 p.m., a tree holding a rope swing on the Boise River just down from Baybrook Footbridge fell and landed on approximately 10 people. Two men in their 30s suffered critical injuries, a woman in her 20s suffered moderate injuries and a teen had minor injuries. All of the injured individuals were taken to the hospital.
